The flickering bulb not on a corner
But on a backway that nobody turns
Nor see's
It's not patched nor subtle
Just riveting above my pockets
The figment life it was meant to guide
And in my dark coat, for this night, I follow
A backway that nobody turns
Now just hidden in my buttoned up suit
Walking the backway, no other bulbs that, that burn
The shadows that follow me home, and that I follow
Reaching in my buttoned up suit
The biggest sensation on this beautifully dark night
It is, or is, somewhat of a chime
No, just reaching in my dark coat for a key
And once again, there is that beautiful chime
Here, the mechanical screech
Here, It's gears unwind my home
But you're welcome to flicker in my home
I have no backway to hide, or walk
And no fraternity of my kind
